Dehradun Rava Dosa, is one of the top choices among South Indian food lovers. Mainly consumed in breakfast and also as an evening snack. Everyone who’s a fan of South Indian food must have surely eaten Rava Dosa, multiple times in their lives and also tried their hands on, trying to cook it. For those who are curious to learn the Recipe for a crisp Rava Dosa, here is a step by step explanation.

Ingredients : –

  • Rice flour – 1 cup
  • Unroasted Rava – 1/2 cup
  • Maida – 1/4 cup
  • Water – 3 cups + 1/4 cup (add 2 tbsp more in the middle)
  • Curd – 1/4 cup (semi solid)
  • Salt
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper – 1 tsp (crushed)
  • Green chilli – 1no (finely chopped)
  • Coriander leaves  & curry leaves – (finely chopped)
  • Asafetida – as required
  • Cooking oil


  • Take the Rava and Curd in a bowl. Add the rice flour, salt and maida, to this. After this add 3 cups of water and go head and mix it well with a whisk. Now add the cumin seeds, crushed pepper, green chillies, coriander leaves, Asafetida and curry leaves. Mix it well so that no lumps and formed and the batter is uniform. Keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  • Grind Coconut chutney that’d be used as a side dish and after 15 minutes you can check the batter, which would be now be thick Add 1/4 cup of water and mix it well. You can add more water till the batter is finally consistent.
  • Take a non-stick pan and heat it a bit. Add some oil on the pan to grease it. Hold the bowl at some distance from the pan & pour the batter around the corner of dosa pan. Pour it in a way that a circle is formed. You now need to take some more batter & fill the inner portions. Sprinkle some oil on top.
  • The flame should be low to medium and you will need to sprinkle some more drops of oil on the dosa. Now cover the pan with a lid cook for a while, before the Dosa, gets crispy and brown.
  • The Rava Dosa is now ready to be served. Fold the Dosa and serve it with coconut chutney and sambar.
